This fight will be the main event ESPN2’s Friday Fight Nights & the fight will take place in Las Vegas.The factor which is sure to go against Diaz is the fact that he hasn’t fought since July last year. It will be exactly one year since his last fight that Diaz will be entering the ring. In professional boxing that is quite a long time. Even worse is the fact that he lost his last match which was a rematch against Juan Manuel Marquez.
The fights he fought leading up to that match weren’t great as well. Both his performances against Paul Malignaggi were quite poor compared to the standards of international boxing. He will be going into the match with the record of 35-4 with 17 KOs. But he is known to be a “puncher” & as we have learnt from the great “Rocky’ movies, “the puncher always has a chance.”
Torres, on the other hand, is a veteran in the ring. He is 33 years old & has fought many fights with his fists covered in boxing gloves. This Washington boxer is known to be a hard fighter & has good energy in the ring. But his biggest asset against would be his experience in the ring. With Diaz’s recent run of form, it seems, it will not be much of a task for Torres to take the fight home. Unless Diaz does something dramatic, he does not have a chance.
