Inspired by a presentation in the AFC Professional Football Seminar and an initiative by Asian champions Pohang Steelers, the Korea League has started a new campaign ‘Five More Minutes' (5MM) to increase the actual playing time in the domestic games.

The overall actual playing time in the Korea League last season was 57 minutes out of the regulation 90 minutes and the K-League aims to increase it to more than 60 minutes with the help of this campaign.
The coaches and players of the K-League teams have been encouraged not to appeal the referees' decisions or argue with them and engage in fair play as part of the campaign.
The results from the first round games of the K-League last week are encouraging as the actual playing time increased by a minute and 17 seconds to 58 minutes, 17 seconds.
English Premier League CEO Richard Scudamore, in his presentation at the AFC House in November last year, had stressed on quality of the match as the key point of success.
Pohang Steelers started ‘Steelers way' last year in which the players showed more respect to the opponents, referees and fair play helping them win the continental silverware.
In a meeting in January this year, the CEOs and coaches of the K-League clubs promised to show more attractive football to help bring the fans back to the stadiums.
K-League General Secretary Lee Joon-ha was ecstatic with the initial results.
"The results of 5MM campaign in the first round were very positive. The matches were speedy and exciting. We will do our best to keep the momentum till the end of the season," he told www.the-afc.com.
Korean champions Jeonbuk Motors clocked 57 minutes, 17 seconds as the best overall actual playing time in the league last year but two first round matches have already surpassed that timing.
The Daejeon Citizen 5-2 thrashing at the hands of FC Seoul saw the actual playing time reach to 59 minutes, 47 seconds while Seongnam Ilhwa Chunma's 2-0 victory over Gangwon FC clocked 66 minutes and 25 seconds.
